![]() The paella capixaba, which combines your choice of shrimp, octopus and other seafood, is delicious. Get it with a side of plantains and farofa (toasted yucca flour). I'm a fan of the shrimp stew (bobo de camarão), cooked in coconut milk with fresh tomatoes, cilantro and onions. Seasoned with onions, tomatoes, garlic, cilantro, malagueta peppers and urucum (a native condiment high in protein that gives the dish its reddish/orange color), moqueca is cooked slowly and then served in a terracotta casserole dish with white rice and pirao, a sauce made by adding yucca flour to the broth. We have a multitude of restaurant choices in LA, and at Citywalk, I am not sure if and when I will come back considering other Brazilian restaurants offer a better experience.Located in a mini-mall off of busy Thousand Oaks Blvd., Moqueca (pronounced "moo-kek-ah") takes its name from a a saltwater fish stew that originates in Espírito Santo, a state in southeastern Brazil. Considering the price I paid for the buffet, I was quite disappointed. This time I felt the experience was lacking. I have been to Samba before in the past and always had a great meal, which is why I chose to go here for my birthday. The desserts were delicious, and we really appreciated that Francisco tried to make the best out of a difficult service, however I have to say that I was quite disappointed with my experience. They took well over 30 minutes to arrive and Francisco sincerely apologized for the delay by including an extra dessert cheesecake. We ordered two desserts, the chocolate cake and the cheesecake. I finally gave up on dinner and we agreed to order dessert. Over an hour into our dinner our waiter had to track down the "fish" guy who gave him an argument before finally, and reluctantly, coming over to our table along with the "chicken" guy.and unfortunately the chicken leg was pink and undercooked on the inside. ![]() I was told "No problem." Long story short, they never showed up at our table and my girlfriend and our friends even had to ask on my behalf. I had to ask the staff, multiple times, if they are going to bring around the fish, chicken and rib options. During the 1 1/2 hour course of my meal, our table was only visited five times by the waiters carrying the meats! Two had steak options, two had sausage options and one had pineapple. While the salad buffet itself was fine,I cannot say the same for the waiters who were supposed to come by our table regularly. Unfortunately I can't same the same for the buffet. ![]() My fiends enjoyed their meals immensely and I tried their Steak, which was great, and their fries which were really quite wonderful. ![]() My girlfriend and our two friends ordered the Steak and fries and I ordered the buffet. We ordered, and greatly appreciated, the free bottle of champagne for my birthday. Our waiter Francisco introduced himself to us and seemed friendly and knowledgeable as well. The atmosphere was vibrant, the dancers entertaining, and the restaurant was clean. We appreciated that our table was ready when we arrived and the welcoming staff was friendly and attentive. We made reservations for 7:00 and arrived on time. On Saturday December 29, 2018, my girlfriend, myself and our two close friends, who just flew in from Chicago, decided to spend my birthday dinner at Samba. Samba.what happened? You used to be an elite Brazilian Churrascaria, but on our recent visit I was very disappointed.
